Boka Loading Depot launches cogeneration module

July 31, 2014

Germany’s MWM supplied the equipment. The NIS Company has commenced the operation of a cogeneration device fitted at Boka Loading Depot (the town of Sečanj). This particular project represents the next stage of expanding cogeneration capacities with a view to streamline NIS operation efficiency and make better use of the corporate gas resources.

The implementation of the cogeneration modules, which transform the associated petroleum gas into electricity and heat will not only reduce company’s expenses on power for its infrastructure, but will give to NIS greater prominence in Serbia’s market.
The implementation of the cogeneration modules, which transform the associated petroleum gas into electricity and heat will not only reduce company’s expenses on power for its infrastructure, but will give to NIS greater prominence in Serbia’s market. Other than that, the involvement of cogeneration will reduce negative environmental impact when the associated gas ceases to burn on flares. The electricity generated at Boka Loading Depot will go to respective distribution networks across Serbia, while the heat will be used for the station’s own consumption. 10 cogeneration modules are envisaged to be put in place at NIS facilities before the year’s end.
