Tchaikovsky at the Kalemegdan Fortress as a Prelude to the Bolshoi Festival

The citizens present near the Music Pavilion at the Kalemegdan Fortress had an opportunity to enjoy the compositions of Scriabin, Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky at a mini concert which was organized as a prelude to the Bolshoi Festival which will be held at Mokra Gora from 13 to 15 September.

The director Emir Kusturica is organizing for the first time this year the Bolshoi Festival as counterpart to the film festival Kustendorf. Gazprom Neft provided for the organization of this classical music festival, and the competition topic of the program will be performances of classical and modern Russian compositions.

According to the organizer’s words, the main idea of the festival is the promotion of a large number of young talents from the secondary music schools and academies in Serbia with the objective of placing this festival on the European and world map of classical music festivals.

The Czech National Symphony Orchestra will take part in the main part of the festival program with conductor Jan Kučera. The Russian pianist Yuri Rozum and Emir Kusturica and the No Smoking Orchestra will hold concerts at the main square of Drvengrad.
