The agreement was signed by Mladen Šarčević, Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development, and Kirill Tyurdenev, Chief Executive Officer of NIS

The Memorandum defines cooperative work on development of personnel performing scientific and research work, certification of new study and educational programmes of faculties and secondary schools for the professions in demand by the company, development and improvement of professional training for educational personnel, and scholarships for the best secondary school and university students in the country and abroad. The cooperation foresees furnishing the facilities of the institutions of primary, secondary, and university education, as well as undertaking the activities to promote the Russian language.

Mr Kirill Tyurdenev, Chief Executive Officer of NIS, highlighted that the company will keep investing in the youth education support projects, in line with its slogan “Future at Work”. “In 2018, we expect – and we particularly take proud in this – that as much as 25 young experts, NIS scholarship students, will become our colleagues. We believe that supporting education is beneficial in at least two ways: we invest in our future and assist development of the entire community. We will continue fostering energy of knowledge as an important part of our strategy”, Mr Tyurdenev pointed out.

Mr Mladen Šarčević, Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development, expressed his satisfaction over the fact that NIS as a company is known by its investment in science, knowledge, and young people. “This is the first aid and support that our institutions are in need of, in particular adaptation of schools and offices, cooperation with higher education institutions, exchange of knowledge. I believe that, not only in 2018, but also in the years to come, this cooperation will be beneficial both for secondary school and university students in Serbia and the company which will secure skilled manpower“, said the Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development.

The Memorandum of Cooperation was signed in the Centre for the Promotion of Science that NIS equipped as part of the “Together for the Community” programme.

The Memorandum of Cooperation concluded with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development further promotes investment in education, which has been NIS’ practice for five years now through the “Energy of Knowledge” programme. Through this programme, NIS has so far established cooperation with 47 international scientific and educational institutions in the country and abroad, awarded scholarships to more than 90 students, adapted 50 offices, laboratories, and classrooms in the cities and towns across Serbia and organised 33 knowledge Olympiads in physics, chemistry, mathematics, and the Russian language.

In the previous year alone, NIS signed cooperation agreements with the Faculty of Economics of the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Philology of the University of Banja Luka, Mihajlo Pupin Institute of Belgrade, Organisation of Serbian Students Abroad, and also Pirot Gymnasium, High Technical School of Zrenjanin, and three secondary vocational schools in Pančevo. In addition, the company has continued the existing cooperation with partner faculties – Universities of Novi Sad and Belgrade and Petnica Science Centre.

In the light of its corporate slogan “Future at Work”, NIS is particularly committed to investment in young people and their education. Due to its contribution to education in Serbia, NIS is the first company which received the prestigious “St. Sava” award given by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development.
