NIS CEO Kirill Kravchenko has appeared as a panellist at the summit entitled "Partnership in the Balkans - the strengthening of relations in the region", held on 16 February in Brussels, and organized by "Friends of Europe".

Kravchenko delivered his speech in the third panel, “How to achieve maximum results in business dealings in the Balkans”. In the opening remarks he presented the current volume of investment of NIS in business in Serbia and the region, pointing out that for any company it is of the utmost importance to operate in conditions of certainty. NIS has also recognised the importance of the human resources for the company operation, which prompted it to tightly cooperate with Serbia’s schools and universities, thus giving impetus for employment of the best performing students at the universities in Serbia and stimulating those studying abroad to return to Serbia after the graduation, Kravchenko pointed out.

The NIS Company is a member of the “Friends of Europe” organisation. After the discussion, NIS invited its guests and the summit participants to a cocktail party to continue their communication and socialise in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

the summit “Partnership in the Balkans – the strengthening of relations in the region” was organised at a time when the Balkan countries and the European Union are facing internal and external challenges, to give an opportunity to government officials of the Balkan countries and their businessmen to come forward with a common message that regional cooperation and prospects for the accession to the European Union can provide a common ground to create favourable strategic, legislative and investment climate in the Balkans. This event’s agenda was dominated by the migrant crisis that has shaken the whole of Europe, as well as the opportunities and proposals for its resolution.

The summit that has been traditionally organised for 15 years now has brought together senior officials from the EU and the region, who were addressed, among others, by the European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn, as well as regional countries’ ministers.

In a live discussion guided by a moderator, the panellists also touched upon the major issues for the region – the need to strengthen the economy and economic ties among the Balkan countries, the growth of living standards in the region and a common desire of all the countries of the Western Balkans, specifically the accession to the European Union.
