NIS Helps Children’s Hospital ‘Tiršova’ in Belgrade

December 27, 2017

On this occasion, Zlatibor Lončar, Minister of Health in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, and Kirill Tyurdenev, CEO of NIS, paid a visit to the University Children’s Hospital ‘Tiršova’ and were accompanied by Professor Zoran Radojičić, MD, PhD, Director of the University Children’s Hospital ‘Tiršova’ and NIS employees. The donation used to purchase the required medical machines amounts to around 17 million dinars and is the largest individual donation received by this health institution. Wishing to bring joy to the young ones during the upcoming New Year’s and Christmas holidays, Minister Lončar, the management and employees of NIS handed New Year’s gifts to the children currently treated at ‘Tiršova’ Hospital. In the coming days, NIS employees will also hand gifts to the residents of the Centre for the Protection of Infants, Children and Youths in Zvečanska Street and the children currently treated at the Institute for Child and Youth Health Care of Vojvodina. Continuing to care for the health and wellbeing of our young ones, NIS started another annual humanitarian campaign at its NIS Petrol and Gazprom filling stations under the name ‘You and We for the Children’s Hospital in Novi Sad’. By 7 January 2018, NIS will donate 25 dinars from each purchase of 25 litres or more of any type of petroleum products to the Institute for Child and Youth Health Care of Vojvodina, with both the employees and the company itself participating in the humanitarian campaign. On this occasion, Minister of Health in the Government of the Republic of Serbia Zlatibor Lončar said, “I would like to thank Mr Tyurdenev and NIS as the largest individual donor to the University Children’s Hospital ‘Tiršova’. The equipment donated to the Children’s Hospital will improve and facilitate its work to a great extent. Thanks to NIS for remembering the children who will, unfortunately, have to spend the New Year’s at hospital and for giving them New Year’s gifts to make the holiday special for them. I am glad that NIS will not stop there and will proceed to help the Children’s Hospital in Novi Sad and, as far as I am aware, other children’s hospitals that need help, too.” Kirill Tyurdenev stated that corporate social responsibility was one of the most important strategic goals of the company. “It gives us great pleasure that all of us together - the employees and the customers succeeded in making the largest individual donation to this important institution. I am certain that we will be equally successful in the ongoing campaign for the Children’s Hospital in Novi Sad. Thank you for giving your knowledge and commitment to children and for making it possible for us to be a part of that generous and responsible mission,” Tyurdenev said. Professor Zoran Radojičić, MD, PhD, Director of the University Children’s Hospital ‘Tiršova’, thanked NIS for the large donation and pointed out, “This is an example of an important socially responsible company partnering with the Ministry of Health and us, thereby helping us to get better and reach our objective, which is world-class children’s medicine. We will continue to pursue that objective this year. I believe that together we will reach that objective of excellent paediatric care.”
