NIS signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the prestigious Russian MGIMO University

Today, NIS have signed a Memorandum of Strategic Cooperation with the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, and thus became the first domestic company to have an agreement on cooperation with this prestigious university.

The signing of the Memorandum by Kirill Tyurdenev, CEO of NIS, and Anatoly Torkunov, Rector of MGIMO, in the President of the Republic of Serbia Building was attended by the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić. A Memorandum of Cooperation between the Russian University and the University of Belgrade was also signed on that occasion.

Memorandum signed between NIS and MGIMO establishes a strategic cooperation between the two parties in the field of education, in particular through promoting education in Russian language, as well as the development of scientific research and knowledge sharing, especially within the framework of the NIS’ Energy of Knowledge program. This document also provides the conditions for establishing cooperation between MGIMO and educational institutions in Serbia, as well as exchange of professors and students. In that way NIS continues to help connecting domestic educational institutions with prestigious Russian universities. Memorandum also establishes the cooperation between NIS and MGIMO in organizing and hosting Russian Language Olympics in Serbia, exchange of MGIMO and NIS experts as guest lecturers, internships in NIS for MGIMO students, and envisages the support of NIS to Serbian students who are studying at MGIMO. Thus, NIS will offer scholarship to two students at the MGIMO University for school year 2019/2020. In the framework of the previous cooperation, Kirill Tyurdenev, CEO of NIS, gave a guest lecture at MGIMO in April 2018.

During his stay in Belgrade, Anatoly Torkunov, Rector of MGIMO, gave a lecture titled ‘Rivalry of big countries under conditions of neutrality’ to the students of the Faculty of Law of the University of Belgrade. Torkunov also met NIS employees who graduated from MGIMO and talked with them about the further development of that University, improvements in work with students and the development of new courses.

In January, during the visit of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, to Serbia, NIS signed memoranda of cooperation with two prestigious Russian universities, Saint Petersburg Mining University and Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas. In addition to these agreements, memoranda were signed between Russian and Serbian universities. The University of Novi Sad has established cooperation with the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, while the University of Belgrade signed a memorandum with the Saint Petersburg Mining University. In this way, NIS continues to contribute to the education quality improvement in Serbia and at the same time provides professional support to the Company and its employees by the prestigious educational institutions of the Russian Federation. NIS is the first company in Serbia to receive the ‘St. Sava Award’ from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia for its contribution to education quality improvement.
