NIS Supports New Physics Lab at First Belgrade Grammar School

A new Physics laboratory, reconstructed and furnished with the support of NIS as part of its corporate social responsibility programme “Together for the Community”, was opened at the First Belgrade Grammar School today.

The laboratory was provided with state-of-the-art teaching aids that will facilitate conducting physics experiments. This modern lab will also be the venue for creative workshops that will help students and their teachers prepare effectively for regional and international competitions.

The official opening of the Physics Laboratory at the First Belgrade Grammar School was attended by representatives of NIS, Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia, Faculty of Physics at Belgrade University, Serbian Association of Physicists, representatives of Belgrade city authorities and management of the Grammar School.

In addition to the official lab opening, a one-day Physics Festival was held at the First Belgrade School, giving students the opportunity to find out more about the equipment and experiments conducted at the lab.

As part of its corporate social responsibility, NIS pays a lot of attention to projects aimed at improving the quality of life of the community of the company’s operations. Accordingly, NIS has recognised the importance of the project and supported it within the social responsibility programme “Together for the Community”. NIS is also the first company to win the prestigious “St. Sava Award” for its contribution to improvement of education quality in Serbia. The award is given by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development. In the coming period, NIS is going to continue supporting projects that help improve the quality of education in Serbia.

The “Together for the Community” Programme has been implemented for eight years now with the primary goal to improve the quality of life in local communities where NIS does business. This programme is implemented in cooperation with 11 local self-governments: Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš, Čačak, Pančevo, Zrenjanin, Kikinda, Novi Bečej, Žitište, Kanjiža and Srbobran. In 2016, the programme supported 106 projects, whose delivery helped improve the operation of cultural, educational and sports institutions.
