NIS to Support 152 Projects within “Together for the Community” Competition in 2015

May 9, 2015

This year, the Company has earmarked 110.5 million dinars for the implementation of projects at the territory of Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš, Čačak, Pančevo, Zrenjanin, Kikinda, Novi Bečej, Žitište, Kanjiža and Srbobran. The projects will be implemented by the institutions, citizens' associations, and sports and professional associations which participated at the NIS open competition. The Selection Committee was made up of the Company and local self-government representatives, as well as of the persons of distinction within the local communities, while this is the first year that the population participated in the selection process as well. The Committee made the selection among the total of 1,225 submitted projects according to the predetermined criteria, making sure that the initiatives in the five areas were supported: sport, culture, science, environmental protection and helping the vulnerable groups. The selection criteria were the same as in previous years: the importance of problem resolution for the local community, involvement of the local community in all project phases, budget justification against the proposed activities, importance of the problem a project deals with based on the needs of the local community and compliance of the set goals, proposed activities and expected results. The deadline for project implementation is 31 December 2015, while the complete competition results have been published at the Internet address http://zajednicizajedno.nis.eu/izabrani-projekti and local communities' websites. For already seven consecutive years, NIS has been implementing the local community support program. So far, almost 800 million dinars have been invested in the program and more than 600 projects have been implemented, helping the development of local communities, facilitating the operation of a number of institutions and improving the work of cultural, educational and sports organisations.
