June 22, 2015

On the occasion, the Federation of European Carnival Cities (FECC) bestowed to NIS an international award. As part of the promotion of the corporate responsibility values, this year NIS supported the Association “Friends of Pančevo” in its open competition Together for the Community. The Association “Friends of Pančevo” is the project leader and a traditional organizer of this prestigious event. On the occasion, Henry Van Der Kroon, the international President of the Federation of the European Carnival Cities (FECC), of which the Pančevo International Carnival is a member, gave NIS a special international award as a token of gratitude for the support in implementing this important event. Owing to, among other things, the financial assistance provided by NIS, the Pančevo International Carnival attracted many visitors this year as well, presenting in the best possible way the cultural values and the significance of such international events. The Pančevo International Carnival is the first and largest modern carnival in Serbia. It is considered the biggest cultural outdoor event in the country and the region, and has won numerous international honours. The Pančevo International Carnival is a member of the Federation of the European Carnival Cities (FECC) since 2004. NIS’ programme of support for the local community was designed with the aim of strengthening partner relations with municipalities and cities where the company conducts its business. This year as well the programme is implemented in 11 municipalities, through projects selected in the open competition Together for the Community. The programme has been implemented seven years in a row, and the projects selected in the open competition contribute to the development of local communities, facilitate the functioning of numerous institutions, and improve the operation of cultural, educational, and sports institutions. Supporting the local community is part of NIS’ corporate responsibility, implemented under the slogan “Future at Work”.
