The Third “Bolshoi Festival

The festival was opened by the prominent Russian pianist, Yuri Rozum, and on the second festival evening the well-known Serbian violinist, Nemanja Radulovic had a concert, accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra of the Bolshoi, under the baton of Srboljub Dinic, Head of the Mexico City Opera. Praiseworthy for the great atmosphere was the band "No Smoking" led by the film director, Emir Kusturica. The competition part of the festival was attended by more than 70 young musicians from high schools and academies from Serbia and Republika Srpska, who were this year for the first time joined by young people from Russia. According to the unanimous assessment of the jury consisting of the professors: Viktorija Matelinen and Zoran Komadina, as well as Miroslav Pavlovic a concertmaster of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, the Golden MATRIOSKA, the top prize, went to a pianist Leo Borisavljevic, from the Faculty of Music in Belgrade. Silver MATRIOSKA was won by the duo consisting of a soprano, Ana Petrovic, and a pianist, Strahinja Djokic, also from the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, while the bronze Matrioska was awarded to the Russian Anastasia Chugainova, from the Centre of Art for Talented Children from the North. The winners were handed the awards by Nemanja Radulovic, a violinist. The aim of the Festival, which was founded by the renowned filmmaker Emir Kusturica, and supported the company Gazprom Neft, is to develop cultural ties between Russia and Serbia, supporting the young talents from music schools and academies, in Serbia, Republika Srpska, and Russia.
